This Month I...
Visited the Edinburgh Fringe
Myself and some friends visited the festival this year for some comedy, and an experience called Flight. Somehow, after living in the area our whole lives, this was only the first time we had been. I really ought to get into the habit of taking more photos.
Made a sweet deal
Crunchie Munchies, a sweet brand in London, got in touch with me about redesigning their packaging. I took inspiration from their name to create a logotype that resembled a set of crunching teeth. They wanted something fun and energetic so I utilised the classic pink of sweetie bags, and made it pop with a high-voltage yellow. I preferred an alternative option, but chuffed with the end result nonetheless.
Received some puppy love
Another client I’ve been working with over the past week has been The Doggy Tub, who got in touch with me to help create a simple yet informative website that promotes their self-service dog wash.
I’m also going to be working on designing the vinyl stickering for the tub itself, so have been working on creating a friendly and inviting identity that can span across multiple solutions. Here’s a peak:
Got Rejected
For having no industry experience, the freelance side of things has been going pretty well so far. On the contrary, I’ve been rejected from all of the 40-odd jobs I’ve applied to so far. The search continues.
Turned 22
22 was the most lacklustre birthday of my life, I forgot it was even my birthday until I was greeted by a friend. Unfortunately it means no more free buses 🙁
Booked a 5-week break
I’ve been back at home now for about 8 weeks, which feels like 6 weeks too long. I’ve been going crazy in Linlithgow, doing the same routine on repeat. So…
I’ve decided to get away and go backpacking. It struck me that once I get my first job, that’s me pretty much locked in until I retire, so I should take advantage of all the free time I’ve stumbled in to and go on a big trip around Europe.
In a week I’m off to Brussels, followed by 13 other cities & towns. I won’t be taking my laptop so it’ll be October before you hear from me again. See the route I’ve got planned below.
